About Cally :: Caroline (known as Cally) grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where her love for acting and theatre blossomed from an early age. Whilst she lived in Paris, France she trained under the direction of Chris Mack during a Masterclass at the Bilingual Acting Workshop (BAW), and worked with Nicholas Iacovino, winner of The Best Director of a Feature Film at the 2008 N.Y. International Independent Film and Video Festival for Once A Garden. In addition to a range of recent short film projects, in early 2009, Cally featured in the music video clip The Beast for Australian band, Major Major, directed by Briony Williamson.

Cally first began performing professionally at the age of 16 when she was chosen for the lead female role in Gulls, written by Robert Hewett and directed by Jan Calder for the Adelaide Festival Theatre. At 17, in her school-assessed performances where she played the lead female roles in Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Maria Callas in the monologue Masterclass she was presented with State Awards for gaining 100% in both pieces.  Cally went on to obtain her Bachelor of Performing Arts at Monash University in Melbourne, Victoria, where she majored in Drama and Theatre Studies, with minors in Dance and Script Writing. Immediately after her training she co-wrote, choreographed and performed in Samsara, an original production for the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Professional experience as a drama teacher has added to Cally’s writing and directing repertoire. Her wide interest in a full range of dramatic arts saw Cally write and direct the play 8 Disobedient Children. The piece was specially developed for the child performers working on the blockbuster stage musical The Lion King, which was then touring in Shanghai, China. The piece was staged at the Shanghai Grand Theatre for an audience of 50.

At the end of 2007, during a short visit to France, Cally fell in love with the rich artistic culture and way of Parisienne life, where she lived and worked for two years. Today, she continues to pursue acting from her UK base.
